Other Fun activities and things to do in Damazan

Wives, girlfriends & other that aren't playing a match at Damazan might be interested in these activity ideas:

Here are just a few suggestions that are within an hour's radius of Damazan:

1.     Right next door to the Cricket Club is a lake, 'Google' Lac de Moulineau, offering water-skiing, wake boarding, swimming and a children's' playground.
        Open all day at weekends during the summer months. 18€ per hour for the rides in 2015. Bathing in an enclosed are of the lake. Camping and Gites also available. 

2.    Latour Marliac 47130 Le Temple Sur Lot http://www.latour-marliac.com       
Beautiful historic nursery gardens, specializing in waterlilies and lotus flowers.
        Good on-site restaurant (need to reserve) for lunch. Gift shop for plants, books and presents.
        This is where Claude Monet bought his original waterlilies for his garden in Giverny in the 19th century. 
        And so did famous gardeners like Gertrude Jeykll, Edward Lutyens and Vita Sackville-West, by an early form of mail-order catalogue shopping.

3.    Bleu de Lectoure Textile Museum  Ancienne Tannerie 32700 Lectoure http://www.bleu-de-lectoure.com
        Guided tours (English spoken, groups can book) of the history of woad cultivation in SW France.
        Centuries of tradition and huge prosperity thanks to this blue vegetable dye, which fell from favour once indigo arrived from the East.
        Recently revived in Lectoure. Techniques and textiles demonstrated, small gift shop.
        Good lunch restaurants and shopping in Lectoure which is a very picturesque town.

4.    Nerac - birthplace of Henri IV Pretty town. Guided tours of castle. Riverside restaurants. Small boat hire.
        Excellent market on Saturdays. 

5.   Agen 
      Clothes shopping - makes a change from UK High Street names. 

6.   Bastide villages: Larressingle. Vianne. Monflanquin. Prayssas.

7.   Night markets - during the summer months. Informal dining, local atmosphere, regional specialities. 
       Prayssas -   Wednesdays 
       Fregimont-  Fridays 
       and there are more on other days.

8.   Morning markets: for example the big ones are in St Livrade on Fridays, Aiguillon on Tuesdays and Fridays.
       Lavardac on Wednesdays. 

There are 2 18 hole golf courses near Damazan. Golf d'Albret is 13km away & green fees are 30€ on weekdays & 35€ at the weekend. Golf de Casteljaloux is 17km away & green fees are 24€ on weekdays & weekends. The prices are for 2015.
